Diathermy

Diathermy, also known as shortwave diathermy, is a
therapeutic modality used by our physical medicine doctors to
treat joint, muscle, and ligament injuries such as muscle
strains, tendinitis, and bursitis. It is also employed in
respiratory conditions like bronchitis by reducing bronchial
tube contracture and improving airway flow.

How it Works

Unlike ultrasound, which uses sound waves to heat soft tissues, diathermy employs electromagnetic energy to generate both thermal and non-thermal physiological effects.

Our new generation diathermy devices are safe, easy to use, and produce minimal side effects, offering a comfortable treatment experience.

Benefits of Diathermy

Diathermy is a valuable tool in our rehabilitation program, particularly for patients with muscle and ligament injuries as well as joint conditions. Key benefits include:

image approach

Improved Blood Flow:

Enhances circulation in hardened, contracted, or scar tissue,
allowing essential nutrients to reach the affected areas.

Increased Flexibility and Function:

Softens tissue adhesions that contribute to muscle pain, fatigue, and stiffness, as well as tight swollen joints typical of arthritis.

Reduced Muscle Spasm:

Significantly decreases muscle spasms in acute pain patients, often outperforming even the best massage techniques.

Enhanced Rehabilitation:

Used prior to stretching or joint mobilization (such as chiropractic care) to maximize treatment effectiveness
